The Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) has established a state-of-art Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR), Pune in its campus. So far, IDTR has conducted different types of Training Programmes for the Drivers’ development.
The family, specially the spouse, plays a vital role in defining the driver’s behaviour on the road. The family problems that he carries to work have a major effect on his psychological status while driving. The profession of a driver involves long periods of absence from home and it is not practically possible for them to attend day-to-day matters related to the household. It is the spouse who plays a major role in running the household and giving moral support to the husband during the performance of his duties. This moral support goes a long way in ensuring safe driving, which is crucial for the well being of the family.
In the light of the above background, Honourable Shri Diwakar Raote, Transport Minister, Government of Maharashtra & Chairman, MSRTC, has taken a decision to organise special training programme for MSRTC drivers jointly with his spouse. The request of MSRTC for organising such type of training at IDTR has been received by Director, CIRT, Capt. (Dr.) Rajendra B. Saner-Patil. Accordingly, a three-day residential training programme is organised from 28-30 September, 2016.
The training programme was inaugurated by Shri Divakar Raote, Honourable Transport Minister, Government of Maharashtra & Chairman, MSRTC at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, 28th September 2016 at CIRT, Pune .
During this training programme, topics like making the drivers aware of their family life, behaviour and vehicle driving, skill gap analysis and importance of interaction between husband and wife, rewards and recognition for drivers, motivation and communication for drivers, personality development, healthy food habits and economical budget planning for the family are covered through group discussions and classroom sessions.
This innovative training programme for drivers including the spouse has been organised for the first time in India to motivate them to work towards the development of the organisation.
